Myanmar: Defendant Said to Need Medical Care

Daw Aung San Suu KyiDaw Aung San Suu Kyi, left, the Burmese opposition leader who is being tried on charges of violating the rules of her house arrest, needs urgent medical attention in the prison where she is being held, her party said Friday. In a statement, the party said that it was “gravely concerned” about her health and that she could not sleep well because she suffered from leg cramps. She was treated for dehydration and low blood pressure in early May and looked pale and weak in court on Tuesday.
