Jailed U.S. Reporter Refuses Food in Iran

roxanaTEHRAN (Reuters) — An Iranian-American reporter jailed by Iran for espionage has gone on hunger strike and says she will not stop until she is released, her father said Saturday. The reporter’s father, Reza Saberi, said his daughter, Roxana, who turns 32 on Sunday, had called from prison to say she was on her fifth day of refusing food. “She’s not eating anything,” he said. “I’m very worried. Judging by her voice over the telephone, she seems to be weak.” Ms. Saberi, a freelance journalist was sentenced to eight years in jail on April 15 on charges of spying for the United States. The United States has called the charges against Ms. Saberi baseless and has demanded her immediate release
